You can help a child learn to sail!

The Sailing Center is getting under way with its 2017 summer Youth Sailing Program. The Center will be offering sailing instruction for students (ages 6 to 17). There will be ten, one week sessions, running Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 4:00pm. The classes will cover all skill levels, from the basics of sailing to racing.
In prior years many children have successfully completed this program and benefited from the experience. However, there are many less fortunate children who could not attend the program.
With this in mind, the Sailing Center has a Scholarship Program for summer youth sailing. The purpose of this scholarship program is to provide children in our community, who otherwise would not be able to afford sailing, to have the opportunity to learn and practice.
Each scholarship of $250 will pay for one student to attend a one week (5 days) session. Scholarships will be awarded to children from the Key West Boys and Girls Club as well as children from Wesley House and Take Stock in Children.
The Center is contributing ten scholarships to children from those organizations. We would like to be able to offer 25 scholarships. A contribution from you would enable us to do that.
Please consider donating a scholarship for a deserving child. If you can’t donate an entire scholarship, any level of contribution will be appreciated.
We are a recognized tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the current Internal Revenue Code, which makes your donation tax-deductible. For your reference our FID tax number is 59-2813351

If you would like to consider a scholarship donation for our summer youth program of $250.00. Simply pay online here! You can donate one or more just add to quantity if you want to give more than one scholarship.

Please consider Key West Community Sailing Center..
Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support! All donations are tax-deductible 501(c)(3).
Our mission is to advance sailing education and encourage the public and sailors of all ages to experience the joy of sailing in a safe and fun environment. To establish and sustain ongoing programs for sailing, education and community involvement in the city of Key West and surrounding areas.
To provide safe and fun educational programs for youth interested in sailing and boating. Learning to handle small craft teaches young students seamanship, safety, self-reliance, planning and thoughtful decision making, communication, team building and confidence. We will strive to encourage these skills through our educational programs.
To impart a love of sailing as a life sport, while providing the fundamental skills necessary for participants to advance in the sport as far as their desire, skill and hard work may take them.

Our newest addition to the center is the Key West High School Sailing Team. It is very exciting and the students have lots of enthusiasm. The name they picked is " KWHS Sailing Conchs."
There will be 12 students sailing at one time. And the goal of the club is: To be able to sail by yourself and compete; Get everyone on the same ability level in order to compete.
The High School Students will be taking part in these Center events: Sunday races at the Sailing Club from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. All students welcome.
