Mark your calendars to secure your spot!
Each year, we look forward to a fun season of outdoor adventure on the water for youth ages five to 17 during the summer. The programs are open to sailors of all skill levels. Sessions are one week each, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, with certified instructors.
We welcome all young sailors to learn the basics of sailing through adventure sailing and racing on a variety of boats owned by the Center. Weekly sessions are on a “first come, first served” basis.
Secure your spot, as the limited number of spaces available tend to fill up quickly.
One week sessions are $295 per student. To apply for a need-based scholarship email programdirector@kwcsc.org.
Our primary goal is that students learn and grow from this experience; therefore it is important that your child is placed in the correct skill level. We offer several different options:
Little Skippers – This class is focused on getting your young sailors comfortable on a sailboat and on the water. The goal is to give younger children the opportunity to have fun on the water and build a love and desire for sailing. The ideal age for this class is 5-8 years old.
Sailing 101 – This class is our learn to sail “crash course”. It is designed for those who have little to no sailing experience, yet have the great desire to learn. This class is also an excellent option for returning sailors with experience looking to increase their comfort and confidence on the water while improving their skills. In this class we focus on the basics and fundamentals, and spend most of our time on the water sailing and having fun. The ideal age for this class is 9-12 and 13-17 years old.
Sailing 102 – This class is designed for sailors with some experience and the desire to further develop their sailing skills. This class gives participants the opportunity to increase their sailing knowledge and practice on the water. Participants must have prior experience to participate in this class. The ideal age for this class is 9-12 and 13-17 years old.
Adventure – This class is designed for sailors with some experience who want to spend more time enjoying sailing. The goal of this class is to improve the sailing skills they have while enjoying fun adventures on the water. This may include long distance and destination sails, island picnics, learning about cruising, fun games and water activities. All sailing related! The ideal age for this class is 9-12 and 13-17.
Racing 101 – This class is designed for sailors with sailing experience looking to explore the exciting world of racing. The goal of this class is to gain knowledge and confidence racing and explore the advanced theories of sailing. The ideal age for this class is 10-13 and 14-17.
Advanced Racing – This class is designed for sailors with significant sailing experience and gives them the opportunity to participate in a summer sailing regatta! The ideal age for this class is 10-13 and 14-17.
Camp is led by KWCSC Program Director Piper Blackford and our sailing instructors. Our instructors are certified by US Sailing. They have instructed on a variety of boats, in private lessons, and class environments. Sailing Center leadership is dedicated to safety, fun and learning.
