Each year, we look forward to a fun season of outdoor adventure on the water for youth ages six to 17, from June into August. The program is open to beginners as well as those with sailing experience. Sessions are one week each, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, with certified instructors.
The classes cover all skill levels, the basics of sailing and racing on a variety of boats owned by the Center. Weekly sessions are on a “first come, first served” basis.
WATCH THIS PAGE for registration information when it becomes available in the Spring.
Secure your spot as soon as you know which classes you want your young sailor to attend. You may register online and pay by credit card; OR download the Application/Waiver and deliver it in person with payment, cash or check. See Payment and Sign-up section below.
A limited number of scholarships are available each season. Contact Program Director Ben Hermelin for more information about eligibility, email@example.com
Our primary goal is that students learn and grow from this experience; therefore it is important that your child is placed in the correct skill level. We offer three skill levels.
Young Beginners – The Young Beginners class is focused on getting your young sailors comfortable on a sailboat and on the water. The goal is to give younger children the opportunity to have fun on the water and build a love and desire for sailing. The ideal age for this class is 6-7 years old.
Beginners – The Beginners class is our learn to sail “crash course”. It is designed for those who have little to no sailing experience yet have the great desire to learn. In this class we focus on the basics and fundamentals and spend most of our time on the water sailing and having fun. The ideal age for this class is 8-17 years old.
Intermediate – The Intermediate class is designed for more experienced sailors with the desire to advance their sailing skills. This class gives sailors the opportunity to further their sailing knowledge, adventure to new destinations, and explore the excitement of racing. All sailors must be able to sail upwind confidently in order to participate in this class. The ideal age for this class is 8-17 years old.
Camp is led by KWCSC Program Director Ben Hermelin and an assistant instructor, both of whom are certified by US Sailing. They have instructed on a variety of boats, in private lessons, and class environments. Sailing Center leadership is dedicated to safety, fun and learning.
