Summer Camp

Camp Overview

Each year, we look forward to a fun season of outdoor adventure on the water for youth ages five to 17 during the summer.  The program is open to beginners as well as those with sailing experience.  Sessions are one week each, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, with certified instructors.

The classes cover all skill levels, the basics of sailing and racing on a variety of boats owned by the Center. Weekly sessions are on a “first come, first served” basis.

Secure your spot as soon as you can, as spots tend to fill up quickly.

One week sessions available at $295 per student. To apply for a need-based scholarship email sailing.instructor@kwcsc.org.

Skill Levels

Our primary goal is that students learn and grow from this experience; therefore it is important that your child is placed in the correct skill level. We offer several different options.

Young Beginners – The Young Beginners class is focused on getting your young sailors comfortable on a sailboat and on the water. The goal is to give younger children the opportunity to have fun on the water and build a love and desire for sailing. The ideal age for this class is 5-7 years old.

Beginners – The Beginners class is our learn to sail “crash course”. It is designed for those who have little to no sailing experience, yet have the great desire to learn. This class is also an excellent option for sailors with sailing experience looking to increase their comfort and confidence on the water and improve their skills. In this class we focus on the basics and fundamentals and spend most of our time on the water sailing and having fun. The ideal age for this class is 8-12 and 13-17 years old.

Intermediate – The Intermediate class is designed for more experienced sailors with the desire to advance their sailing skills. This class gives sailors the opportunity to further their sailing knowledge, adventure to new destinations, and explore the excitement of racing. All sailors must be able to sail upwind confidently in order to participate in this class. The ideal age for this class is 8-12 and 13-17 years old.

Adventure Camp – This class is designed for sailors with some experience who want to spend more time enjoying sailing. The goal of this class is to improve the sailing skills we have while enjoying fun adventures on the water. We will have long distance and destination sails, snorkeling adventures, island picnics, and other fun games and water activities. All sailing related! Participants will also have the opportunity to experience a variety of different sailboats. The ideal age for this class is 8-12 and 13-17.
